History of Roulette

Roulette originated in France. It was invented by the French mathematician Blaise Pascal, who constructed the roulette wheel. Initially, his goal was to invent a mechanism that would help recreate chance in probability.

The roulette wheel quickly found its use in entertainment and games, and in the 18th century it functioned on principles similar to those used today. Louis XVI introduced roulette to clubs such as "Palais Ro-yal" and "Palais Frascati".

When in 1837, gambling was banned in France, roulette migrated to neighboring countries and from there to the whole world. In the USA, she initially gained recognition in New Orleans, her supporters grew, and finally the whole country recognized her. Today, she is known everywhere and her elegant style is appreciated everywhere.

Roulette Game Rules

To play roulette, you need a special table that is divided into two parts: a wheel and a platform with numbered fields in two colors: black and red. There are two known varieties of roulette - European and American. In european roulette, the wheel and platform have fields with numbers from 1 to 36 and a field with zero. In american roulette, there is also a double zero field. The compartments with zeros are green.

The game begins with players placing bets. Players can place bets on individual numbers and zeros, as well as bets on lines, columns, dozens, the first five numbers, even or odd numbers, numbers 1 to 18 and 19 to 36, or red or black.

Is that all? Playing roulette would be too simple and players would probably get bored quickly if it weren't for the fact that you can place inside bets. These have a small chance of winning, but they significantly multiply the bet. Even though the risk is high, it's worth it! So you can place bets on single numbers:

  • One number, so-called (straight up)
  • Two numbers (split bet)
  • Three numbers (street bet)
  • Four numbers (corner bet)
  • Five Bet: first five numbers (0, 00, 1,2,3)
  • Six line bet (6 digits per line)

After accepting the bets, the roulette wheel is set in motion and the dealer throws the ball in the direction opposite to the wheel's motion. Then it is no longer possible to change the bet. Players are also not allowed to touch or move the tokens. The drawn number is read after the wheel stops. The game is won by those players who bet on the drawn number, color, line or column. If the bet is unsuccessful, the player loses the entire betting pool.

If you play roulette in a land-based casino, you are also prohibited from using mobile phones or other electronic devices. The roulette table itself can only contain chips, cigarettes, or any drinks purchased in the casino. Calculating your loss is a bit more complicated. If the ball stops in the zero field, those players who bet on straight odds, i.e. colors, even or odd numbers, high or low numbers, lose the entire bet. If you bet on columns or dozens, players lose only half of their bets.

European and American Roulette

European and American roulette differ not only in the number of zeros on the wheel, but also in the number of dealers present in the game. In American roulette, the game is operated by only one dealer, who performs all activities with his hands. In the case of European roulette, the game is operated by three dealers:

croupier dealer - the main person running the game; chipper croupier – arranges chips and pays out winnings; dealer inspector - supervises the game without participating in it.

Although the remaining rules of the game are the same in both versions, it is also worth knowing that in American roulette, due to the presence of two zeros, there is a lower probability of winning.

When it comes to playing roulette itself, you have three ways to choose from: playing in a land-based casino, playing in an online casino, where you can play with a live dealer, playing roulette without the presence of a dealer. In this last variant, the player plays alone against the game mechanism.

The game of roulette has something mysterious about it. Since its inception, attempts have been made to unravel the mechanism of the roulette wheel in order to cheat the game and predict which field the ball will land on. The sum of all the numbers in roulette gives the number 666, which is considered to be the devil's number. Such attempts to decipher the wheel are called roulette systems.

How to play roulette? Game strategy

We will start our roulette strategy by discussing the chance in roulette. This changes depending on whether we are playing French or European roulette and the type of bet placed. We would like to remind you that American roulette has two zeros, so the casino advantage for the mad player is 5.26%. This is a lot, because for French roulette with one zero, the casino profit is only 2.7%, so it is not difficult to guess which type of roulette players like to play the most.

In roulette, there are bets where the percentage of the chance of winning is as high as 50%. We mean opposite bets: black/red, even/odd. If you play roulette in an online casino, you may often be prohibited from using such bets when playing with an active bonus. The relatively high chance of a player winning means that online casinos exclude this type of bets from promotions. In turn, when betting on one number (straight), the probability of winning is 1/37 or 1/38 (the same as the numbers in roulette).

So what is it about roulette systems? You've probably heard about them many times, but you probably still don't know what to do to win at roulette. The game of roulette is 100% a game of chance and it is impossible to predict the outcome that will appear at the end of the spin. No single roulette strategy will guarantee you winnings. It can only increase its mathematical probability. There are three known strategies for playing roulette. Here they are:

1. Martingale system

This method involves doubling the bet with each loss. For example: If your bet you just lost was ₱100, you bet ₱200 in the next round. This roulette strategy carries the risk of losing your money quickly, or if you play for a high stake, reaching the maximum bet allowed in the casino.

2. Martinez's system

This strategy involves betting the same number 35 times in roulette and is based on the belief that one of the times the number you have chosen will come up. This strategy is also not very effective.

3. Probability Testing

The third strategy involves placing a selected group of bets and testing them. We place bets on numbers belonging to one column, dozens, or lines, etc. Then we do a test by betting on 5 spins of the roulette wheel. We assign one letter of the alphabet to each group of bets. For example, if the result in the test series is: A,A,C,C,A, where A are bets from the column and C are bets on numbers from the same line, we continue the game betting only on numbers from these groups.
